At the end of the day, we at Lemuel long to see God-glorifying life change in the people around us. This is the heart that lies behind our work and activities.
However, let’s be honest, when it comes to showing what is happening on a daily basis, it is a lot easier to post pictures of a school building going up or a work project in the water holes than it is to post a picture of life change in a person. The former is concrete (sometimes literally) and measurable and usually happens within our attention span. The latter is…not like that.
True life-change is not so easy to document and share. It is often happening in the dark where we cannot always see it—or it is happening so slowly that we do not perceive it daily. Investing in people for life change is a long journey over a mountain top one day and through a valley the next—a breakthrough today, and a setback tomorrow. It’s a process that doesn’t end with one story or one picture from a life, although sometimes that's all we get to see.
Yet, it is surely happening—in big ways and in small ways—through seeds sown and the work of the Holy Spirit—step by step and at different levels with different people. Over the next few days, I would like to share four rather different stories with you that showcase life change at diverse stages and levels. Sometimes we see more of the story, sometimes a snapshot. May they encourage and lift your heart.
