I'm behind in getting this posted on the blog! Here is an excerpt from our newsletter sent out on July 13:
By now, you have most likely heard that Haiti's president, Jovenel Moïse, was assassinated this past Wednesday (July 7th) very early in the morning.
It was news that left the entire country in shock. There is a lot of information and speculation circulating, but as of now, the details surrounding his assassination remain rather baffling.
Political tensions and insecurity had already been high. The President's death has left a huge power gap. There are currently multiple people claiming to be the rightful successor. In addition, gang fighting continues to rage in areas of the capital.
On the Plateau, we are far from these events and the violence in the city. Yet, we are still affected by the uneasiness and uncertainty, which have only increased.
Please join us in praying for our country Haiti in the coming days as its remaining leaders seek a way forward. We are so grateful to know that in whatever situation, our Father--the Ruler of Heaven and Earth--is in complete control.
