The Kindergarten has a roof!

The past couple weeks have been very busy, but fun!  We welcomed many visitors–both old friends and new.  Samuel and Bonita returned to Haiti for a visit with their son, Joshua, and two friends from Germany: Gerhart and Vincent.  Two of our Jack-of-all-Trade’s came too: Bonita’s dad Bryon (the Scrap Master, welder, and tool supplier and organizer extraordinaire) and Rick Bucklew ( our Water Solutions Coordinator and general fix-it man…”Rick! My sink is blocked again!”).  At the same time, we welcomed Russ and Marie and the team from Emmanuel Baptist church. (See more about them in this post here.)

So it was a party!

The Kindergarten roof really was a team effort.  Emmanuel Baptist helped to raise the funds, and the German team together with the guys on our Development staff constructed the roof.

Lifting that lumber is heavy work!  Here’s a short video of part of the process:

And here’s the finished product:

Believe it or not, it is difficult to get pictures of the kindergarten building from the outside, because of all the trees…I’m ok with that problem!

The latrine also got its roof, though you can barely see it (right foreground).

Thank you, Emmanuel Baptist and Samuel and Co.!!
